Department Publishes Updated VAT Guidance Notes

November 1st, 2015 (Nassau, Bahamas) – The Department of Inland Revenue wishes to advise the public that it has released updated VAT Guidance Notes to be read in conjunction with the VAT Act 2014 and Regulations 2014. The updates were done as some of the information relevant to all of the guides have been revised.

The updates are aligned with amendments made to the VAT Act during the 2015/2016 Budget Communication, and continued interaction with the public. Particular attention was given to revisions affecting the real estate sector, tourist shopping and transportation.

Amendments have also been made to eliminate repetitive information from sector and subject guides that are already presented in The Bahamas General VAT Guide.

The public is further advised that they can continue to view the guidance notes on the government’s website at www.bahamas.gov.bs/VAT.
