Nassau, Bahamas, November 15, 2013: The Ministry of Finance welcomes the constructive dialogue that the IMF’s Article IV Mission facilitates. This process allows the Fund’s global membership to give feedback on domestic economic developments and policies in The Bahamas.

These consultations enable the IMF to test the rigour, candor and comprehensiveness of the Government’s macroeconomic policy framework.

In this regard, the Ministry concurs with the Mission that the program of fiscal reforms must be implemented in a timely fashion, and that it defines a path for the reduction in the Government’s debt burden. This process will continue to engage private sector stakeholders.

The report on The Bahamas’ Article IV Consultation will be discussed by IMF’s Executive Board in January 2014. As is customary after such discussions, the Ministry will endorse the publication of the report.
