FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Value Added Tax (VAT) Department of the Ministry of Finance advises the general public that department officials will be embarking on a vigorous campaign to ensure that businesses are VAT compliant. Officers can be identified by their VAT identification badges, bearing their name, signature of Acting VAT Comptroller, John Rolle as well as a photo of the officer.
Issues such as VAT Inclusive pricing, prominent display of VAT and Business License Certificates, proper invoices and receipts among others will be some of the things VAT officers will be monitoring.
Consumers are also encouraged to be vigilant and to ensure that taxpayers with whom they do business with are complying with the VAT law as it relates to the issues mentioned above. If you suspect that a business is not compliant, feel free to report it to the department via telephone or email for further investigation.
VAT Registrants can also use the opportunity when visited to have VAT officers provide assistance on issues which need to be clarified.
