The public is advised that the value displayed on the gas pump includes the VAT

IMMEDIATE RELEASE: GAS PRICES ARE VAT INCLUSIVE

It has been brought to the attention of the VAT Department that certain gas stations are charging VAT in addition to the value displayed at the pumps. The public is advised that the value displayed on the gas pump includes the VAT.

The public is further advised that all gas stations will provide a receipt showing the breakdown of the VAT inclusive pricing upon request. For example, when you go to the pump and request $20.00 gas you should only pay $20.00. (See the Price Control amendment on gasoline and diesel Regulations, 2011).

Be an informed consumer, should you or anyone you know be charged VAT in addition to the price displayed at the pump kindly forward your receipt to the VAT Department at vatcustomerservice@bahamas.gov.bs or call the VAT hotline at 225-7280 with your concern.
